Sarah Jane (Bogard) Mayfield

Sarah Jane Bogard Mayfield, 80, of Benton, KY, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.  Sarah was born May 2, 1937 in Evansville, IN.  She graduated from FJ Reitz High School in Evansville, IN in 1955.

As a teenager, she worked at the Loew’s and Majestic Theaters in Evansville, IN.  She then graduated from Cosmetology School and worked at Henri’s Beauty Salon as a Hair Dresser from approximately 1957-1959.  After moving to Kentucky in 1959, she was a waitress at Majestic Steak House in Draffenville from 1973-1985 and a Photo Technician at Benton Wal-mart from 1985-2014.  She was a member of the Briensburg United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Katherine Lynn (Billy Joe) Bradley of Benton; one grandson, Blake Aaron Bradley of Paducah, and one granddaughter, Brooke Ashton Bradley of Benton; one brother, Richard (Wanda) Bogard of Irving, TX formerly of Evansville, IN; sister-in-law’s, Rosie Bogard of Evansville, IN and Sara Norwood of Nashville, TN; five nieces and nephews, Steve Bogard, Scott Bogard, Dava Schwentker, Dirk Bogard, and Kelly Baskin and many friends.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, Frank Bogard and Lucille Hoggatt Bogard, one brother, John Stanley Bogard and one nephew, Kyle Stovall.

A Memorial and Celebration of life is planned for Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Briensburg United Methodist Church, 1966 US HWY 68 E., Benton, KY.  Visitation will be from 10 A.M.-12 P.M. with a service at 12 P.M. and a lunch to follow.  Revs. Bill Lawson and Mark Earhart will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to; Marshall County Animal Shelter, Marshall County Humane Society, and the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
