Sylvia Johnston

Sylvia Johnston, 78, of Metropolis, Il. passed away on Monday August 5, 2024 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her family.

Sylvia worked at Goodluck Glove factory, Florsheim Shoe Factory, Lourdes Hospital and Harrah’s Casino, which she retired from.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Johnson Dow of Metropolis, IL.; grandsons, Jessie (Alex) Hodge of Calvert City, KY. Thomas Hodge of Burna, KY. Casandra (David) Quimby of Burna, KY; nine great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three nephews; and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Whitnel and Laura Elkins; two sisters, Shirley Parmer and Susan Elkins; and one brother, John Whitnel Elkins Jr.

At her request, there will be no services or visitation.

Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah is handling all other arrangements.
