Thomas S. Bates

Thomas S. Bates, 92, of Paducah, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Mercy Health Lourdes in Paducah.

Tom was an Army veteran who served overseas during the Korean War. After leaving the army, he started working for Hughes Aircraft as a quality engineer until he retired. Tom loved solving crossword puzzles or watching old westerns in his free time. He also enjoyed traveling with his loving wife Joan, who precedes him in passing.

Tom is survived by two children, Janet L. Krebs and Thomas C. (Nikki) Bates; six grandchildren, Sara M. (Wesley) Garrett, Jessica A. (Chris) Bolin, Emily M. Krebs, Sean E. (Bailey) Krebs, Alyse N. Adam, and Richard T. (Ashley) Adam; ten great-grandchildren, Stephen, Brooklyn, Braylon, Aaliyah, King, Cole, Delaney, Hazel, Natalie, and Blair; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Tom in death is his wife, Joan A. Bates; one daughter, Lorie A. Adam; parents Clell and Bertie Bates; and two brothers, Paul and Jack Bates.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
