Tommy Ray Grace, 78, of Joppa, left this world behind on June 20th 2019. He passed on peacefully in his sleep and is now in all likelihood playing golf with Arnold Palmer and discussing the importance of the short game while showing off his newest driver. He was born on December 8, 1940 and lived many places during his long life but always called Joppa, IL his home. Though he was retired at the time of his death, he had served his country as an airman for four years and worked at Missouri Portland Cement Company. He found the love of his life, Julie Johnson, late in life but made up for lost time by living life to the fullest with her for six years. His greatest joy in life was spoiling his granddaughters and great grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and loved watching the local high school teams. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but wishes for only happy memories.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Johnson; his daughter Tonya Koerner and husband Kevin; his granddaughters, Amie Eplee (husband Eric and son Eli), Annie Keipp (husband Zach and daughters Emmy Jo and Maizy), sister Susan Baker (husband George) and brother Gail Grace (wife Brenda).
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Evelyn (Thomas) Grace and an infant sibling.
As per his wishes, no traditional service is planned. However, those who wish to celebrate his life are encouraged to attend his "life party" at the Metropolis Country Club on July 7 from 1 to 4 P.M. Come share stories of Tom's love and life as well as enjoy his favorite foods and drinks one last time. In lieu of flowers, Tommy wanted any memorial donations sent to the Massac County High School Girls Golf Team in care of Paula Foss, 2841 Old Marion Road, Metropolis, IL 62960.
