Troy Ferguson, 59, of Mayfield, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his home.
Troy was a driver for Inland Marine Services in Paducah. Troy never met someone he could not engage in some way. He was always ready with a booming laugh, a memory of some mishap or something he could tease about. He worked for years at General Tire in Mayfield where he was affectionately known as “Cheesehead" or "Son-in-Law". He also worked at Turner Dairy in Fulton, adding to his collection of stories and work friends. He enjoyed spending afternoons in Columbus visiting family and friends, spending time at the Fish Market with the gang there. He had a decades long friendship with Tom King, Gaylon Spraggs and Leroy Harper. Maybe Troy gets the last word about who has the biggest head. He was also called “Andre" sometimes, a nod to his size and his love and knowledge of wrestling. His laughter and his humor will be missed, but lives on in inside jokes and countless memories. Share those stories and he will be there in the laughter that is sure to follow. His world revolved around his family.
Troy is survived by his wife, Tara Ferguson; two sons, Cody Ferguson and Dustin Ferguson; two siblings, Scott (Kim) Ferguson and Melanie Ferguson; sister-in-law, Kim Ferguson; eight nieces and nephews, Scotty, Kelsey, Kayla, Brett, Alana, Trent, Logan, and Richli; and several aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews, and friends.
Preceding Troy in death are his parents, J.L and Dolores Ferguson; one brother, Rodney Ferguson; in-laws, Richard and Lenore Puckett; and grandmother Lula Belle Puckett.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 25, 2021 at 7:30 pm on the bluff by the pavilion at Columbus Belmont State Park with Rev. John Varden officiating. Friends may visit the family from 5:00 pm to service hour. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Project Hope in Metropolis, Illinois.
