Verna A. (Kurck) Parker

Verna Amelia Parker, 93 of Metropolis, passed away Friday, October 11 at Massac Memorial Hospital.

She was a lifelong homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Metropolis.

Surviving Mrs. Parker are five children, Stephen (Lynn) Parker of Metropolis, Carolyn Mizell of Metropolis, Bruce (Kathy) Parker of Metropolis, Rosemary Parker of Metropolis, and Beverly (Michael) Hicks of Metropolis; nine grandchildren, Todd Parker, Darren Parker, Mark Mizell, Cameron Bullock, Bryan Parker, Robert Parker, Katie Parker, Thomas Hicks, and Elizabeth Hicks; 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Parker is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Carlton Parker; parents Herman and Sophia Kurck; one grandchild, Stephen Chad Parker; and four siblings, Marie Hillebrand, Blanche Horstman, Edwin Kurck and infant Albert Kurck.

A funeral service will be held for Verna on Monday, October 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis at 12:00 pm with Robert Alan Parker officiating. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 am to funeral hour at the church. Burial will follow at Massac Memorial Gardens in Metropolis.
