Virgie Shumaker

Virgie Iona Shumaker, 93 of Paducah passed away Friday at her home. Ms. Shumaker was of the Pentecostal faith.
Surviving are one son, Phillip Day of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; two daughters, Pat (Ronald) Dodson of Paducah, Virginia (Mike) Swift of Calvert City; six grandsons; two granddaughters; twenty three great grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one step-daughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Shumaker; one son, Jack W. Day; infant daughter Iona Jean Day; one brother, Thomas Wadley; three sisters, Ruby Sikes, Gladys Joiner, Josephine Alderman; two half-sisters; one half-brother; and two half-sisters. Her parents were James and Nettie Wadley.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM 8:00 PM Tuesday at Lindsey Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the friends and staff of the Jackson House apartments who helped make Virgie a happy resident. She will be miss by all who knew her.
