Walter Leonard Thorne

Walter L. Thorne, 79, of Martin, TN died on Saturday June 1, 2019 at Continue Care Hospital in Paducah.

Born April 11, 1940 in Pulaski, Michigan to the late Leonard and Ida Thorne.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise Thorne; four children, Kaye (Todd) Baumgartner, Barbara (Jim) Lancaster, Jim Thorne, Mike (Jennifer) Thorne, nine grandchildren, Kera, Troy, Jordan, Audrey, Sheldon, Greg, Lance, Addysson, Aiden; four great-grandchildren, Pirlo, Maclin, Charlotte, and Isabella.

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lupe Thorne; and four brothers, Wayne Thorne, Warren Thorne, Lawrence Thorne, and Norman Thorne.

He loved his family, playing golf, and working in his garden. He also enjoyed making yard decorations especially for the holidays.

He was employed by Goodyear for 39 years in both Jackson, Michigan and Union City, Tennessee.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday July 20, 2019 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Martin, TN.  A luncheon will follow after the service.

Friends may visit the family from 9:00am – 11:00am prior to the service at the church.
