Warren Farr, 66, of Paducah passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Mr. Farr lived in Indianapolis until 1966 when his family moved to Paducah. He graduated from Paducah Tilghman in 1967 and then attended Paducah Community College and the University of Kentucky where he majored in architecture. He went to work as a draftsman from 1970 and continued in that field until 1985. He then became a fulltime artist in 1986, winning his first major award at the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art. In the same year he won the 21st Annual Central South Art Exposition at the Parthenon Galleries in Nashville, TN. Throughout his lifetime he was in 38 major art exhibitions including, the Cheekwood Museum of Art in Nashville, TN, the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, KY, and New Orleans Museum of Art. His biggest exhibition was at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC where his paintings were viewed by our previous president Ronald Reagan. Warren was also a published author known for his poetry, “Desperate for Love: Poems by an Artist” published in 1993. His computer game, COMPU-OPOLY, was published by Dynacomp, Inc. in 1994. He had many other interested including chess, numismatics, reading, listening to music, and philosophy.
Surviving are two brothers, John (Carla) Farr of Paducah, Bob (Becky) Farr of Paducah; two sisters, Linda (Jerry) Thompson of Smithland, Lori (Tom) Riley of Paducah; three nephews, Kyle Lake, Bobby Thompson, Kelly Thompson; seven nieces, LeeAnne Thompson-Frizzell, Leslie Schillaci, Ansley Lake, Tami Stivers, Nicole Stivers, McLane Crane, and Madison Farr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Harriette Farr; his biological father, Glen Slutz; and one brother, Garry Farr.
Memorial services will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 9, 2015 at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Lawrence officiating.
Friends may call from 11:00am to service hour on Saturday at the funeral home.
