William Leon Hoskins, 90 of West Paducah died Sunday, January 15th, 2017 at Lourdes Hospital of Paducah.
Leon was a WWII veteran from the Pacific theatre, as well as a retired Assistant Police Chief in Paducah. After his retirement, he continued working for Trevathan’s and Thomas Furniture stores. Leon was also awarded the following honors: honorable discharge from the US Navy as Seaman 1st class; Kentucky Colonel (1975) by Governor Julian Carroll; and Duke of Paducah (1976) by Mayor William Murphy.
Leon loved spending time with his family, fishing, camping, and was an avid gardener. He also built cypress wood tables. Leon was of the Baptist faith.
Leon is survived by his daughter, Sue Tracy of West Paducah; one grandchild/daughter, Tammy (Bill) Simons of Paducah; one grandchild/son, Dion Hoskins of Paducah; one step daughter, Darlene (Allen) Borders of Sharpe; three grandchildren, Jamie (David) Elliott of Calvert City, Johnna (Mark) Crain of Paducah, and Crystal Tracy of Paducah; ten great grandchildren, Samantha Martin, Schenea Ruiz, Chavez Ruiz, Preston Crain, Cort Maes, Rowan Nethery, Kameron Cooper, Nicole Hoskins, Josh Elliott, and Zach Elliott; eight great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Hoskins; his parents, Charles Louis and Perna Richmond Fondaugh Hoskins; two daughters; one grandchild/daughter; two brothers; and one sister.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, January 19th, 2017 from 5pm until 8pm at Lindsey Funeral Home of Paducah. Funeral services including military and police rites will be on Friday, January 20th, 2017 starting at 11:00 am at Lindsey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah.
