Willie T. Rudd, 86, of Paducah, passed from this world to the next at 1:00 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011.
He was born in Livingston County, Kentucky and made his home in Smithland and Paducah. He co-founded Beltline Electric Inc. of Paducah in 1957 and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a WWII veteran, stationed in the South Pacific. He enjoyed farming in Livingston County and boating on Kentucky Lake. In the 1970s, he restored Smithlands Olive-Davis home, which is listed on the National Register of Historical Places.
Mr. Rudd is survived by a son, Stephen Rudd of Paducah; a daughter, Renee Rudd of Shelbyville, Ky.; a daughter, LuAnn Kanaly and husband Jack of Oklahoma City, Ok.; two grandsons, Trevor Foster and Kyle Kanaly, also of Oklahoma City; a sister, Lavena Irby Luther of Union City, Tn.; a sister, Edith Thogmartin of Fontana, Ca.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brantley and Iva Dora Rudd (Roser); two brothers, Houston Rudd and Cecil Rudd; two sisters, Dorothy Champion Metheny and Velva Iverlet.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday at Lindsey Funeral Home with Rev. John Conn of Tuscon, Arizona and Ray Buckman of Henderson, Ky officiating. Burial will follow in the Smithland Cemetery.
